Incident response

The operative philosophy in the event of a breach of security, whether it is an external attack or an internal attack, is to plan for adverse events in advance. This includes establishing a suitable level of protections, so that if the incident becomes severe, the damage caused is limited.

The most important element of advanced preparation is having support contract with Kerberus Incident Response Team. Having a such contract eliminates much of the ambiguity, which occurs during an incident, and will lead to a more appropriate and thorough set of responses. The following benefits are achieved:

  • An important but often overlooked benefit is an economic one. Having both technical and managerial personnel respond to an incident requires considerable resources. These resources could be utilized more profitably if an incident did not require their services.  If experienced Kerberus personnel are trained to handle an incident efficiently, less of their time is required to deal with that incident.
  • Another benefit is protecting classified, sensitive, or proprietary information.  One of the major dangers of a computer security incident is that information may be irrecoverable.
  • A third benefit is related to public relations.  News about security incidents tends to be damaging to an organization's stature among current or potential clients. Efficient incident handling minimizes the potential for negative exposure.
  • A final benefit of efficient incident handling is related to legal issues. Knowing about system vulnerabilities and patterns of attacks and then taking appropriate measures is critical to circumventing possible legal problems.

In the event of a serious security breach, Kerberus offers incident response coverage in 24 hours. No matter where your business is located, a Kerberus incident response team can be there fast, with highly skilled and experienced security analysts who hit the ground running in any systems environment. They will move quickly to recognize and stop the spread of the breach. Once the breach has been contained, they will salvage as much data as possible to assist in forensics investigation or prosecution of the intruder(s).
